I just noticed I have not posted since January. Oh well we have had a great year !! Lets see we got stuck in the mud at Alligator Point, went on our annual Florida Keys trip, caught some great fish and met some wonderful people. What more could you ask for?

Spring Fever.....

This weekend the temps hit the low 60's. That was all it took, Daniel and I ditched work on Friday and hit the creek. We went and tried a new location that we are guiding on and to say the least it was off the charts!

Kelly and I continued the weekend fishing at Frog Hollow. The fishing was a little slow but we had to get Kelly ready for the trout tournament this coming weekend. She is confident she is going to win the tournament since she is the only girl out of 20 competitors.

Fly Fishing in North Georgia and Beyond

It's been a while since I last posted, I guess I've been just a little bit lazy. Since my last posting we have had a lot of fun. We did our annual Florida Keys trip. Kelly was a trooper she put up with me chasing tarpon all week.

Daniel and I took 3rd place in the 2nd annual Gold Cup Challenge at Frog Hollow. That was a super fun weekend we made a lot of new friends.

Last but not least Kelly and I recently spent 5 days in Belize, which is one of my favorite places on earth. We both caught several bonefish and I finally landed a tarpon. It was a great trip and got to see some old friends and made some new ones.

That pretty well covers it, I'm gonna try to keep up with my postings better in the future.

Rolling into summer!!

The spring fishing was great,we caught a lot of fish and we got to meet Lefty Kreh and a lot of other really great people. The trout fishing is still great and should be really good until about mid July.

I think I hear the "Big Pond" calling! I hope to be posting some bonefish pictures soon (I've got the bug really bad).

Keep the people in the Gulf in your prayers this mess that BP has made will haunt us for years.

It just keeps getting better and better!! This warm weather is really getting the fish fired up. Saturday was a lot of fun the fish were cooperating really well. I'm thinking it's about time to sneak off and hit a few "secret" spots for some big Brown trout.

I fished with Jeff Gooch a couple of weeks ago on the Chestatee. It was a nice warm day and the fish were biting good. We landed several fish over 20 inches. The trout were hitting stone flies, copper johns, and wooly buggers. These fish are big and biting good, now is the time to book a trip with us.

We have spent some time in the water, recently. The water levels are still nice and high. The weather this weekend is going to be amazing! We can not wait to hit the water again.

Fished yesterday on the Chestatee with Kenny Simmons. The fishing was really good due to these warm days. This is going to be a great spring due to all the rain we have had in the last year. Get those fly rods out warm weather is gonna be here before we know it.

We attended the Trout Unlimited, Gold Rush Chapter, meeting tonight. Monte Seehorn gave a great presentation on trout stream management. We got to visit with Monte for a while after his presentation. He is a wealth of information and it was a privilege to get to hear his presentation.

Fished again today on the Gallatin in a large, slow pool under a bridge about two miles north on the river from Big Sky. It was a little colder with the shade even though it was a comparably warm day at around 30 degrees. One could see about twenty to thirty fish of various size all facing downstream but the current was slow moving back up. I got a few of the smaller ones to hit on an egg pattern and another on the golden stone. But couldn't get some of the bigger ones (i would say 15-19'') to move. A lot of the fish were facing diagonally downward in the sand of the river bottom and were possibly feeding on midges just as they were coming off the sand floor. A few fish rose on midges around me but most of the feeding was sub-surface. Total count for the day were four rainbow trout; two 7'' and two 10-11'' and one three inch, ugly sculpin that got my golden stone as it sat in the water in front of me while i released one of the smaller 'bows (and it got my line tangled getting it off my hook!)

Today is did some birthday fishing on the Gallatin River, Montana. I fished about three miles north of Big Sky. Fishing was slow at first in some of the faster pools and eddies. I skooted up to some slower currents and had luck on a golden stonefly imitation (size 10 or so) with a midge dropper. Tallied three fish total with the biggest being around 13'' and the other two in the 10-11'' range. Not a bad birthday

Bitter Cold........Still had a BIG TIME!!

Fished Frog Hollow today with David and Sam. The net was frozen, the reels were frozen, the line was frozen not mention we were frozen. My hats off to Sam I think he is the toughest 12 year old I have been around lately. He fished like a champ and did not complain about the cold (27 degrees) In the end it payed off for him.

Fished Frog Hollow on the Chestatee 2 weeks ago with Kenny Simmons a talented local photographer who also manages the trout fishing at Frog Hollow. He sent me a couple of the photos from the trip, I'm thinking I need some photography lessons from him. I fished yesterday with Doug Adams at Unicoi State Park Smith Creek. I'm thinking the fly fishing addiction is hitting him.

Kelly and Steve spend a few hours fishing on the Chestatee before the Christmas celebrations began. The river was extremely high and moving rapidly due to the recent rains. The fish were hanging out in some of the deeper pools.

Steve let this fish slip out of his hands before the camera was ready.

Luckily he hooked up on another one soon afterwards.

Kelly is not so sure about holding the fish, and her first fish of the day slipped out of her hands as well.

Soon afterwards, Kelly had a chance to pose with another rainbow that put up a nice fight.

Before we left Steve had to catch the last fish of the day!

Fished the Chestatee today, caught one really big Rainbow Trout late in the day. As luck would have it Kelly has the camera in New York. Had to fish really deep, the water was high from the rains 2 days ago. The fish really turned on about 3:00 today caught several the last hour I fished.

Fished middle of the day today caught 4 rainbows. Fishing was a little slow, the wind was blowing about 200mph. Still better than working.
